Flood repairs in progress

THE recent completion of flood repair road works between Silverdale and Fassifern will be good news for motorists using the Cunningham Highway.
Motorists can now enjoy a smoother and safer ride on this section of the highway with it now in better shape to withstand future extreme weather events.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) thanked local residents, businesses and motorists for their patience during recent works.
Roadworks are almost complete at two sites, one in Mutdapilly and one in Warrill View. Earthworks near Sealeys Road are also about to take place, ahead of embankment reconstruction and surfacing works.
Probuild Civil has also achieved shoulder widening works and road resurfacing sections of the downhill lanes between Aratula and Clumber.
Safety improvements partially funded under the Black Spot program will be undertaken near the helipad at Clumber as part of the flood repair roadworks. This work is designed to address the accident history at this section of the Cunningham Highway.
Contractors have witnessed several traffic incidents in or around their roadwork sites, particularly at the back of traffic queues.
Drivers are urged to slow down and pay attention around work sites, as the traffic ahead may have stopped. Traffic controllers are on site monitor traffic flows regularly to minimise queue lengths.
Reconstruction works to repair flood damage to multiple sections of the Mount Lindesay Highway from north of Jimboomba to the New South Wales border will start progressively over the next three months.
Planned maintenance and upgrade works are underway to resurface and widen sections of the Pacific Motorway between Springwood and Palm Beach.
