Town crier visits UK sister city

Mayor Elizabeth Higgins of Warwick in the United Kingdom impressed Bob with her hospitality.

WARWICK resident Bob Townsend recently took part in the Town Crier competition at Moree where he placed third and has been named as one of the loudest criers in the state.
Mr Townsend, has made regular crier appearances at the Jumpers and Jazz Festival.
Visiting Warwick’s sister city – Warwick in the UK recently, he also arranged a special meeting with Warwick’s (UK) Mayor Elizabeth Higgins.
Mr Townsend delivered a letter from Mayor Peter Blundell as his introduction and said he was welcomed with open arms by Mayor Higgins.
Mr Townsend said the pair reflected about the many similarities and differences of the Warwick twin towns and described Mayor Higgins as a “graceful and very approachable” character.
“She was extremely welcoming and had a very formal English accent,” he said. “We immediately hit it off and she invited me to lunch.”
