Trail leads to Woodenbong

Almost out

By JOYCE MARSH (WOODENBONG CORRESPONDENT)

ALWAYS promoted as an extraordinary “family event” the Woodenbong Trail Ride once again lived up to expectations.
Run by Ray Buchanan of Australian Dirt Bike Adventures (ADBA) and sponsored by Yamaha, the ride attracted a great number of juniors, aged 4 to 16 years, registered to ride, along with the larger numbers of senior riders.
There were stunning results for this recognised and prized signature event, which has set the benchmark for all other events.
The juniors area is organised and exciting and offers opportunities to the kids that would not be available to them in any other situation.
Woodenbong turned it on yet again with a hugely successful weekend, with the showground turning into tent city with record numbers of well over 1000 exhilarated visitors which all leads to the whole community benefiting by revenue raised.
Woodenbong Progress Association supports and organises the event and with the many, many hand-on volunteers the village goes into full swing supplying all the food and refreshments and necessary operations for the visitors making it a bonus weekend for all.
Woodenbong offers a wonderful location with not only great hospitality and a friendly environment, but also fantastic rides through the beautiful forest areas of Woodenbong district consisting of three trails which range to 70km catering for all levels of riders from pee-wee to full bikes and quads.
The event is strictly monitored, trails are swept for safety purposes and has a “no rego, no ride policy” with capped numbers for rider enjoyment. All safety facilities are on hand to present a professional outcome.
On Saturday afternoon a trail ride demonstration area was set aside which enthralled riders and audience alike and in the evening, which is open to the public and free, showcased spectacular fireworks display, live entertainment, festivities and great food including baked dinners and home-cooked desserts. This also offers a social outlet for the locals to join in and experience the buzz of the event.
Ray endorsed a huge thankyou to be given to all who gave of their time and energy to make this event the great success it was.
So if this whets your appetite these events are held twice a year in Woodenbong, the next being October 2014 and details can be found on www.australiandirtbikeadventures.com.au
