Thanks to volunteers

LAST week marked the 25th anniversary of National Volunteer Week, a time each year when not for profit organisations that rely on volunteers collectively take the time to celebrate and thank their volunteers.
The team at Warwick Tourism and Events joined with tourism industry operators, WTE board members and councillors to congratulate and thank their volunteers – Betty Gaffney, Betty Wells, Carol Mills, Daphne Hibberd, Doug Scott, Fran Hockings, Gary Mogridge, Gerda Brack, Jean Frankland, Jenny Loy, John Nohlmans, Kenita Auger, Noela Siddans and Ross Siddans.
WTE head Tracy Vellacott said it was a day to celebrate those people who gave their time to the community to promote the region.
“Within your ranks there are treasured faces that have witnessed the changing landscape of tourism over many years as well as new faces and new personalities that have bought their own sparkle and professionalism to VIC operations,” Tracy told the gathering on Thursday.
“I trust you know how valued you are to the organisation and to the staff members who rely on you.
“It was brilliant to acknowledge Gerda and John who received their badges for 10 years of volunteering at the Visitors Information Centre (VIC).
“How incredible! Jean Frankland took the opportunity to remind me that she will be 30 years as a volunteer next year and is looking forward to presentation of her ‘gold’ badge!”
VIC co-ordinator Amy Walker organised the gathering, along with a booklet of testimonials from tourism operators, councillors and board members, paying tribute to the volunteers of the Warwick Visitor Centre. They deserve these accolades and so many more.
The morning tea was generously supported by The Cherry Tree (catering) and Abbey of the Roses, Just Because Flowers and Gifts, Steele’s Bakery and Spring Creek Mountain Cafe who provided volunteer gifts.
