Aviation expansion approval

THE Warwick Aerodrome has been given the tick of approval to expand and offer new aviation businesses flexible lot sizes and leases in a move that could boost the local economy.
The proposal was approved by Southern Downs Regional Council during a general meeting at Stanthorpe on 29 April.
The land area around Warwick Aerodrome, at 89 Massie -Bony Mountain Rd, is 53.9 hectares and already hosts a number of aviation-related activities.
The Warwick Aerodrome is equipped with three phase electricity and with an AVGAS facility with credit card payment option now being installed.
The facility offers the small aviator and aviation services at an attractive and low- cost location when compared to other regional airports and aerodromes.
Businesses already expressing an interest in the new leases and lots included:
Australian Airforce Cadets
Private hanger space
Licensed Aeronautical Mechanical Engineers businesses
Licensed Aeronautical Mechanical Engineers businesses (LAME)
Maintenance and service of aircraft, with further potential as a regional servicing centre.
Queensland Rural Fire, Emergency Services and Queensland Police future Unmanned
Aerial Vehicle (UAV) base of operations
