When size matters

COLONIAL artist Charles Conder will feature in the next exhibition at the Warwick Art Gallery.
A series of Conder’s lithographs, dating from the period 1899-1906 will be on show, including some from the famed Balzac set, invitation cards, allegorical bohemian scenes as well as a collection of books, catalogues, exhibition invitations and research material.
Also featured at the Aibion St gallery will be an exhibition of Baltic Miniatures from around the world.
Charles Conder is recognised as a leading figure of Australian art as a member of the Heidelberg School which developed a distinctively Australian tradition.
His works are widely collected around the world, and the set of six lithographs from the Balzac set show Conder at his best as a graphic artist.
Charles Conder: the Lithographs will be exhibited from 7 February to 16 March.
The concept for Baltic Miniatures originated in Poland in 1993 and rules for the three-yearly exhibition limit works to 20cm, including frame. This miniature format forces the artists to pay attention to scale.
Works from Japan, Germany, Poland, Hungary and Finland are among the exhibits.
