BONY Mountain’s Norma O’Hara Murphy has triumphed again at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, taking out the prestigious Golden Gumleaf Award.
After performing a moving rendition of her winning song, Gilbert O’Meally & Hall, Ms Murphy said she felt very proud to accept the award for Traditional Song Lyric of the Year.
“It is always special to win recognition for my songwriting and it was up against some great writers,” she said.
Ms Murphy runs the Bony Mountain Music Festival near Warwick each September from the family property.
She is a multiple Golden Guitar winner and this song comes from her latest album “The Celtic Connection”.
Norma is looking forward to launching her brand new rodeo album in Tamworth in 2015.
“Where better when you’ve got both country music fans as well as dedicated Rodeo fans,” she said.
“I look forward to singing my new songs down here next year and I know the horse crowd are gonna love them. There’s even a new Warwick Rodeo song.”
