Grant applications due today

SOUTHERN Downs Regional Council has urged anyone wanting to apply for the general grants to do so before the end of business today, (Thursday, 12 September).
The first round of council’s general grants will have a particular focus on supporting local initiatives, local organisations, and projects that enhance community well-being and opportunity.
Mayor Peter Blundell offered high praise for the many groups within the region which provide services and activities that benefit the regional community.
“Through this grants program, council is able to acknowledge the tremendous value of strong community groups, community initiatives, activities and projects to the social, cultural and economic well-being of our region,” Cr Blundell said.
The general grants program offers assistance under the following categories:
– Monetary donation – sponsorship up to $150;
– Monetary donation – capital project up to $500;
– Fee relief – certain council statutory fees up to $1000; and
– Fee relief – council disposal fees for garbage produced at an event conducted by a community group up to $500.
The general grants program application form and information sheet are available from council’s community contact centres by phoning 1300 MY SDRC (1300 69 7372) or can be downloaded from Council’s website www.sdrc.qld.gov.au
Applications may be lodged in person at council’s community contact centres, or posted to the Chief Executive Officer, Southern Downs Regional Council, PO Box 26, Warwick, and must be received no later than 5pm today (Thursday).
Faxed, emailed, incomplete or late applications will not be accepted.
