Midweek golfers out in numbers

Despite the overcast and threatening conditions last Wednesday (29 September), the Ladies turned out in numbers for the women’s competition sponsored by Gunter Nichlick, one of the great supporters of the Women’s Golf Club in Warwick.

Despite the overcast and threatening conditions last Wednesday (29 September), the Ladies turned out in numbers for the women’s competition sponsored by Gunter Nichlick, one of the great supporters of the Women’s Golf Club in Warwick.

Congratulations to Sharron Cooper who was a clear winner after she returned 37 points.

Helen Olsen with 34 points was runner up. Both ladies received Bells Butchery vouchers. Balls in the rundown went to Dian Macdonald (33), Tub Ingall and Di Johnston (32).

The Pro Pin was shared by Di Evans and Tub Ingall.

Pin Shots went to the winner Sharron Cooper (2) and Dian Macdonald, Anne Lyons and Helen Olsen.

Jan Byrne returned a score of 19 points to win the midweek nine hole competition.

Hot on her heels with 18 points was runner up Ann Tomkins.

Last Saturday a good field of ladies hit the course to playing the Condamine Sports Club Monthly Medal.

This event is always popular with members and the club thanks the Condamine Sports committee for their continued support of the Warwick Women’s Golf Club.

Jill Barnes survived a countback to win division one after she and Gwen Mills, each returned 70 nett.

Putting honours in Division One went to runner up Gwen Mills with 28 putts.

The Division Two medal was won by Michelle Wright with a solid round of 73 nett.

Runner up Trish Roberts returned 76 nett.

Yvonne Pinington finished the round with the best putting record in Division Two, 32 putts.

Balls in the rundown went to Anna Cox (74), Annice Payne and Marg Adcock (76) and Sam Hinze (77).

The Pro Pin was shared by Marg Adcock, Anna Cox, Trish Bell and Gwen Mills.

Jan Aspinall won the nine-hole competition with a score of 15 points.

The runner up was decided by countback with Lyn Lane getting the nod after she and Ann Tompkins each returned 14 points.

Organisers are delighted to see so many ladies enjoying the nine-hole competition.

Ladies captain, Ros Darton take a bow for taking the initiative to get these nine hole events up and running.

They are certainly growing in popularity.

On Wednesday of this week the Ladies played a Single Stableford off the red markers.

The nine hole group played for a Café Jacquis voucher.

This Saturday (9 Oct), the Ladies play the qualifying rounds for the Presidents Foursome.

The event sponsored by Wayne Carey from W Carey & Sons Quality Meats.

If you have not already secured a partner, now is the time to do so.

The eight qualifying pairs will revert to a Matchplay Competition on Sunday, with the top match play teams continuing to semi-finals and finals the next weekend.

Depending on numbers there will also be a nine hole comepitition on Saturday played off the front nine.
