The John Dee Monthly Medal stroke event played at the Warwick Golf Club last Saturday drew a big field.

In all 75 players teed off in the October event sponsored by the John Dee company who have been long-time supporters of this event and the club and members ongoing support of the John Dee company.

Numbers were boosted by a group of eight visiting players who hailed from Redland Bay, Carbrook, Brisbane River, Woodford, Fraser Lakes.

Also joining the group was Jay Roberts a regular visitor from the Clifton club.

There was plenty of heat at the top of the leader board and a countback was required to determine whether Phil McEvoy or Jay Roberts who both returned a net 67 was the winner.

It was McEvoy who got the nod.

Dave Speedy (68) finished just one shot behind the leaders.

Jason Owens (net 70) was the winner of the Division A medal winner.

Shaun Campbell picked up the runner up voucher for his net 71 which represented 75 off the stick, a good round in anybody’s language.

Naturally, Phil McEvoy was the winner of Division B winner.

As a visitor Jay Roberts was not eligible for the runner up voucher which in turn went to Dave Speedy.

Roberts did pick up a ball in the run down for his 67.

As did Jessie Ollerton and Ross Bell (71), Redland Bay visitor, Peter Marer (72).

Also collecting a ball were Keith Farrell, Shane McDonnell, Ross Newton and Charlie Morrison.

Shane McDonnell was another who had a good day.

He won the pro pin with seven balls.

Geoff Hinze won five balls, Jason Owens four, Jay Roberts two and Drew Costello picked up a ball as well.

The NTP on the seventh went to Redland Bay visitor Ian Neil while Mitch McLennan won the ninth, Jamie Ollerton the 11th and Wayne Watt the 16th.

This Saturday a single stableford event has been scheduled for members.

Sunday 24 October is a date members should have marked in the diary – it is the Patron’s Day event.

Patron Rodney Macdonald sponsors this medley 4BBB event and as one of the few 4BBB events on the Warwick Golf Club calendar it is sure to be very popular.

Time to arrange a partner and make this a very big day at the Club.
