The return of the Southern Cross Bowls Club’s Monthly Turkey Triples competition at proved popular with 48 bowlers filling green. Players from the three Warwick bowls clubs were joined by visitors from Clifton, Killarney, The Summit and Tannymorel. The big field played two games of 14 ends and there was a mix of good and not so good performances. Fortunately for some “Rick O’Shea” showed up a few times and helped-out.

Two of the ladies on a family team came up with some unbelievable shots at the kitty and not only bruised a few bowls, but also shattered the egos of their male opponents.

The cream finally rose to the top and the crew from Killarney: Jim Lamb, Les Clarke and Kim Hankinson, claimed the win and took home the cash.

Runners-up were Dave Scotney, Linda Hartley and Kev Mooney from Southern Cross.

At the other end of the scale was the combination of Allan Davidson, Barry Frame and Joe Torrisi who couldn’t win a trick. They each went home with a six-pack in their possession and smiles all round. The Raffle winners were Fordy, Margy, Cocky, Gary and Joey.

On Saturday, the team of Clark Davidson, Marion Skaines, Dave Scotney and Steve Tyter played in the Inglewood Bowls Club Carnival. They were in fine form and were good enough to bring home the winner’s share of the $1500 prize money. I wonder how much their lucky rabbit’s foot contributed to their good fortune?
