Lots of catch ups at Apple & Grape

The Stanthorpe swimming pool celebrates turning 50 in 2020 and Kay Dillon is one person who has plenty of memories of early mornings at the pool. (To this day she has a phobia of cold water). Kay was the Darling Downs 100m freestyle age champion from 1973-1975. Kay was back in Stanthorpe for the Italian Banchetto on Sunday and shared memories and stories of the early days of the pool. Kay is pictured with brother Geoff Dillon.

Sport in Stanthorpe takes a back seat for the annual Apple and Grape Harvest Festival. The tone was set for another successful festival as Buskers hit the streets of Stanthorpe last weekend. Guests and locals were bowled over by the quality of the performers. Organisers report all sorts of records were set. On Sunday, I’m sure there were more than a few records of the eating variety set at the Banchetto.

While their Stanthorpe counterparts are enjoying a glass of vino or three; the Warwick cricketers will be vying for the A Grade Condamine Cricket Trophy. Good luck to both teams.

Cricket Australia officials are hoping the Cricket gods are shining on them for the final of the Women’s T20 World Cup scheduled for the MCG this Sunday. I’ll be at the MCG supporting whoever makes it to the final.

If your chosen sport is Cricket, Racing (a big weekend of racing) or if you fancy a round of Apple and Grape. – enjoy.
