The Ballandean Ladies football side capped off a stellar season with a win in the Stanthorpe Ladies grand final on Saturday at the CF White Oval.

Their unlikely opponents were Tenterfield who came from the clouds in the final rounds of the competition to secure their place in the grand final.

Tenterfield went into the game with nothing to lose. The teams went to the half time break at nil all. Tenterfield threatened to upset the apple cart when they put on first points in the second half. Sarah Day took full advantage of a mistake in front of goal and beat two defenders to post first points for Ballandean and level the score.

Chances went begging for Tenterfield as the game headed to extra time.

As she has done so many times in recent years Sarah Day managed a little magic with the ball to put her team one up in extra time.

Ballandean defended the lead for the next 10 minutes before celebrating their undefeated season with a grand final trophy.
