Southern Downs Regional Council announced last night that Warwick’s Great Australian Bites 2022 has been cancelled due to a rise in Covid-19 cases.
The event was scheduled to take place on Saturday 22 January from 4pm to 10pm.
Southern Downs Regional Council Mayor Vic Pennisi said they cannot ignore the potential risks the gathering poses to public safety amid surging cases.
“We will always put the safety of the community first and we look forward to scheduling another event for when it is safer to do so,” Cr Pennisi said.
Council said it will continue working with the Queensland Government and other stakeholders to determine an optimal alternative event later this year.
