St Mark’s Women’s Guild is undertaking a project to decorate the church’s bell tower with hand-made flowers for Jumpers and Jazz in July next year.

The group has made a few hundred flowers and are aiming to make 1400 in total, naming the project ‘Flower Tower 2022’.

St Mark’s Women’s Guild treasurer Elaine Stewart said the flowers are being knitted and crocheted in different sizes using vibrant colours.

“It’s great for the community to take on a bigger project,” Elaine said.

Although the project is for Warwick’s annual festival, St Mark’s Women’s Guild president Winsome Anderson said it is not for the competition.

“It gives a lot of people something to do by bringing the community together and brightening up the church,” Winsome said.

“Even if the bell’s a bit sparse, we’ll fill it up next year.”

In collaboration with Warwick women’s groups and parishes throughout the Southern Downs, Elaine said they are hoping to decorate the bell’s corner as inspired by a church in England.

“What’s great is the community is so happy to support us,” Elaine said.

These contributor groups include Warwick Girl Guides, St Mark’s Craft Group, Allora Ladies Craft Group, and other women in Warwick, Toowoomba and Brisbane.

Elaine said St Mark’s Women’s Guild is hoping to start assembling the project on 7 February, 2022.

However, she said the flowers will continue being made until June next year.

“It’ll be amazing,” Elaine said
