Christmas fun for the Southern Downs

Christmas is coming time to let the hair down!

December means Christmas carols and markets on the Southern Downs and this year is no exception.

The Council announced that the annual Carols events would go ahead across the region this Christmas season despite the testing time across the country.

Something magical happens at Christmas time where the community connects with family and friends to reflect on the year’s events.

Whether attending carols and Christmas markets are an old or new tradition in your family, Council encourages everyone to take advantage of the wonderful events across the region.

In Warwick, there will be Carols in the Park in Queens Park on Sunday 12 December and in Stanthorpe, Carols in the Park will see Weeroona Park transformed into a Christmas wonderland as local singers hit the stage on Sunday 12 December.

It is a chance to come and join favourite local entertainers as they jingle their way through all the Christmas classics on a professional sound stage. There will be prizes for the Best Dressed Kids and lots to eat and drink thanks to local vendors. And of course there will also be a visit from a very special North Pole guest at each event.

For those stuck for gifts, don’t miss out on the markets around the region. The Warwick Jingle and Mingle on Friday 26 November will see late night shopping in the Main Street, the Allora community will celebrate on Friday 3 December with the Allora Bush Christmas and Markets in Herbert Street, the Stanthorpe Christmas Market Day takes place on Saturday 4 December with $1500 in eftpos gift cards to be won (draw at 11am and 1pm) and the Killarney community will be ringing in the season with Christmas in Killarney on Saturday 11 December.
