The first-ever Stanthorpe Berry festival went ahead last weekend, a solid success after a wet week in the lead up to it.

One local stated it was “truly a berry strawesome event”.

People travelled from far and wide to attend the event, with people reportedly driving from Brisbane and other areas.

While Covid-19 was detected earlier in the week in Warwick, this didn’t seem to deter berry-lovers from turning out to the inaugural event.

A highlight for many was the Jamworks Marquee, with attendees coming away with loads of goodies.

Musical entertainment on offer included Two Wheel Drive, Kent Dustin, and The Richard Pictures.

Eastern Colour and Ashbern Farms held Pick Your Days (PYO) days alongside the event, which are always incredibly popular in the region.

Organizer Amy Torrisi previously stated she’d had the event in mind for a while, wanting to do something that supports other industries in the region.

“I think it’s a good opportunity to support these guys,” she said.

“A lot of people don’t know that the Granite Belt is the summer strawberry producing area – that a lot of the produce that is hitting the shelves is from Stanthorpe,” Amy explained.

With such a successful first event, we’re sure the event will kick off again next year. Hopefully with less flooding in the lead-up.
