New information has emerged regarding the positive Covid-19 case in Warwick.

Reportedly, the 27-tear-old unvaccinated man was taken to Warwick Hospital earlier this week and was evacuated to the Gold Coast last night after testing positive.

Queensland Health would not confirm or deny these details.

It is not known when he started exhibiting symptoms or if he is a Warwick local.

He was in the community for 10 days, but it is unknown if this time was spent entirely in Warwick.

Darling Downs Health stated that “further patient details are unavailable”.

Condamine Sports Club and Warwick RSL have been listed as exposure sites for Monday 1 November.

Anyone who was at the Condamine Sports Centre from 1 to 2 pm, or the Warwick RSL from 8:30 to 9 pm should go get tested.

The testing clinic at the Warwick Hospital has been moved to the Warwick Showgrounds due to increased demand and “wet weather”. The testing clinic at the showgrounds is still a drive-through clinic.

The testing site will be open until 4 pm today, and will re-open at 8 am tomorrow morning.

Darling Downs Health requested that anyone attending “be patient and kind” while they wait to be tested.

“It’s a good idea to bring with you items you may need for example your mobile phone and charger, medications, and water,” they said.

They are also asking people to limit their visits to Warwick Hospital and The Oaks, at this time.

They recommend anyone wishing to visit maternity or for palliative reasons contacts their treating team first.

Details have not been confirmed, however, Darling Downs Health is expected to hold a pop-up vaccine clinic from Friday.

Southern Downs Regional Council Mayor, Vic Pennisi, stated this may be at Warwick Town Hall and may run until Monday or Tuesday.

Southern Downs Regional Councillor Cameron Gow also stated there will be a super clinic this weekend in Stanthorpe.

Details will be published as they are released.

Condamine Sports Club manager Stephen Domjahn, and any staff members who were at the club between 1 to 2 pm last Monday, have all gone to get tested at the showgrounds clinic.

They will isolate themselves until their results come back.

Stephen says it’s highly unlikely that anyone contracted the virus as the man only visited the pokies lounge at the club where social distancing was practised. He did not eat or drink, which would require closer contact with staff.

“Better safe than sorry, though,” Stephen said.

He emphasised that all staff, even staff in totally different areas of the club, have gone to get tested.

“The incident happened almost two weeks ago,” he said. “And staff have shown no symptoms.”

“If they had shown any I would have told them to go get tested immediately.”

The club is cleaned daily, and the staff have always abided by Covid-safe practices.

The club is currently open and operational, with staff working who were not present at the exposure time.

Sarah from Warwick RSL says that all the staff members who came into contact with the man who tested positive have now gone to get tested and the RSL is regularly cleaned in line with guidelines.

The RSL is still operating as usual, however, bingo and musical bingo will not go ahead this week due to the limited staff.
