New service station

New petrol station in Warwick

By Juliano Oliveira

Under the “cheapest petrol station in Warwick” badge, P Express Mobil opened to drivers last week at the corner of Guy and Wood streets.

Two more employees are about to join the current two staff members. The branch’s manager, Krupal Patel, guarantees the lowest price in town regardless of competition.

“Customers always come here and say that we have the best price in town right now. So, I tell them that it is not right now, but we will always offer the best price,” Mr Patel says.

“Per day, we have 700 to 800 customers. As I said, it is good petrol, and I promise good prices in the future.”

On Friday, 15 October, a litre of Special E10 was being sold at $1.39, while the Special Unleaded 91 was $1.42. Customers spending $5 in the convenience store receive a 4 cents discount on fuel.

The new servo station works on weekdays from 5am to 10pm, and weekends from 6am to 10pm.

After registering the highest average price for petrol in August since May 2019, Warwick accumulated another rise in September.

Data compiled by RACQ showed that the average ULP price registered in the town pumps came to 145.8c per litre, while in August, this figure was 144.7c per litre. The last time the average cost per litre exceeded 145 was in May 2019, with 148.4c.

In September, the average price of ULP across regional Queensland was 150.0c, 0.4c per litre higher than August when the average price was 149.6c per litre, detailed RACQ.

The high oil price and restricted supply have caused the current soaring cost of petrol in Warwick. RACQ says that oil prices strengthened throughout September and are likely to continue to increase in October. However, despite the scenario, indicative retail margins on unleaded petrol in town are fair.
