Late, late, for a very important date

Have you had trouble keeping track of time recently? If you rely on the clock in Warwick’s CBD to tell the time, this might be why.

The clock at Warwick Town Hall is currently out by over an hour.

A Council spokesperson stated that “Council is aware of a fault with the Town Hall clock and is working to rectify the problem”.

“A new part has been ordered to repair the issue however we do not have an estimated delivery date as yet.

“Council is considering refurbishment works to the Town Hall clock as part of the 2022/23 FY budget.”

The clock town was installed in 1892, and was not originally part of the Town Hall’s design.

Ratepayers voted in December 1887 for the addition of a clock tower and it was then incorporated into the design of the building.

The bell in the clock tower was reportedly taken from St Mary’s Church.
