Stanthorpe Cricket has appointed a new executive team, followings its recent AGM and general meeting.

Timothy Harslett has assumed presidency, Anthony Coup will remain secretary, Alan Cameron treasurer, Sandro Steffanon vice president, and Alec Harslett patron.

“Thanks to Ben Staley for being president the last two years. Covid certainly made the job more complicated,” Timothy said.

Timothy said that with Tenterfield as one of Stanthorpe Cricket’s teams, the coming season was uncertain.

“(We’re) going to start the season with the four Stanthorpe teams, Wanderers, RSL, Souths and Valleys, playing a T20,” he said.

“This will commence after school holidays on 9 October. For the first time, this will be a separate competition to the regular 40 over competition.”

He said City vs Country matches will take place on 30 October and 6 November and, hopefully by mid-November, a 40-matches season can commence in which Tenterfield can participate.

By the time Stanthorpe Cricket’s season does commence, players will be able to enjoy a completely renovated field.

“Our main field, CF White Oval, has just undergone significant aeration, top dressing, fertilising, and some re-turfing thanks to City Football Club,” Timothy said.

“It should be ready to go for the start of our season. Both fields should have the electronic scoreboards functioning.”
