A new and improved Stanthorpe Plaza is on track to open by Christmas, according to Allure Retail director Mark Long.

Since renovation works commenced at the High Street shopping centre in April this year, one of two sections of the carpark has been transformed into a safer and cleaner shared space.

Mark Long, who is overseeing the renovations, said the second section of the 120-space carpark will be completed before Christmas.

Shade sails are now being installed, and will eventually cover two-thirds of the carpark.

Mark said a makeover of the building’s exterior had commenced four weeks ago and the Plaza’s bathrooms had been restored and improved.

The next priority in the project is now to renovate the space occupied by the Plaza’s anchor tenant, Woolworths.

A Woolworths spokeswoman said the company was excited to reveal a “new look Woolworths” at Stanthorpe Plaza in the summer.

“The store renewal will offer a fresh new look, improved customer experience and great value on the food and groceries locals want,” she said.

“We have a dedicated team member at the front entrance to help customers find what they’re looking for during the transition.

“We look forward to sharing more details on what our latest store will offer the Stanthorpe community soon.”

The store will continue to trade its normal hours throughout the refurbishment.

Allure Retail’s Mark Long said the grocery store will expand significantly in size, and its shopfront will be brought forward into what was once the middle of the centre by 12 metres.

With the Woolworths expansion well underway, and eight other stores to fill, Mark has now turned his attention to finding new tenants.

He said the sizes of the shops varied from 50 to 120 square metres, and would ideally be occupied by tenants including a café, hairdresser, massage parlour, and nail salon.

Mark said all former tenants at the Plaza were offered an opportunity to return, but “none of them (had) responded”.

Prospective tenants interested in viewing the available space can discuss the matter further with Mark on 0407 781 157.
