Highway collision claims life of young local man

Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit officers are today investigating a fatal traffic crash at Stanthorpe overnight on Monday which claimed the life of a young local man.

Police said preliminary investigations indicated that at approximately 10.20pm last night – Monday 22 March – a truck travelling south on the New England Highway collided with a sedan travelling in the opposite direction, near the intersection with McGlew Street.

“The driver of the car, a local man in his twenties, died at the scene,” a police spokesman said.

“A female passenger of the car and the male truck driver were not physically injured.”

Investigations are continuing and the name of the deceased man has not been released.
