The Stunned Mullets won the main competition at the 2021 Warwick Cricket Association Australia Day Carnival in a nail-biting grand final against Summers at Slade Park yesterday afternoon, Sunday 24 January.

Rettkes XI won the social competition, with around 30 teams in all taking part in the Carnival – an annual celebration of both cricket and friendship, with many players with local origins and connections making the journey from elsewhere in the state each January.

In the grand final Summers chased a Stunned Mullets total of 110 but at the end of 20 overs came tantalisingly close on 7 for 99. Presentations at Slade Park followed the GF, capping off a big weekend for all – full coverage of the Carnival in this week’s Free Times, out on Thursday…
