Stanthorpe Cup set to jump

The countdown is on to one of the Granite Belt’s most eagerly anticipated sporting and social events of the calendar – the 2018 K&A Building Stanthorpe Cup this Saturday 20 October.

Stanthorpe Jockey Club president Neil Brunckhorst says everything is coming to hand nicely for the race day.

Following good recent rain the track and surrounds are in perfect condition.

Recently retired from full time race calling widely known Paul Dolan will be on track to call all the local races.

With the addition of the Country Cups Challenge Race Series, a top class field is expected in the $12,000 K&A Building Stanthorpe Cup over 1400 metres.

The winner of the race will go on to the $70,000 final at Doomben on Saturday 1 December.

A strong support card ensures a great day of racing.

With plenty of TVs on track and a big screen in the field, punters will be well catered for and a strong bookmakers ring will also add colour to the day.

The very popular ‘Fashions in the Field’ will attract many entries all vying for the great prizes on offer.

Live Band ‘Push’ will play from 5pm until 8pm.

Patrons are reminded under 18’s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Gates open at 10am with the first local race at 1.30pm.

Crisps Coaches will run free services to the races from 11am and return to town from 5pm. Coaches leave from the loading zone opposite the Post Office.
