Entries are being called for the 2020 Warwick Show Prime Cattle and Prime Sheep and Lamb competitions. The Warwick Show will be held Friday 20 to Sunday 22 March.
Cattle entries close at noon next Friday 13 March and sheep and lambs on Wednesday 18 March.
Interest in this year’s prime competitions is expected to be as strong as ever and entries – particularly in the sheep and lamb categories – should reflect current and recent conditions, including intensive feeding used as a response to drought conditions.
An extra category has been added to the sheep and lamb entries – ‘Single hogget or 4 tooth any breed – reflecting an increased demand for mutton in the market, yet another indication of the effects of prolonged drought.

1. Single steer or heifer, no more than 2 permanent teeth, 465kg and over
2. Pen of three steers or heifers, no more than 2 permanent teeth 465kg and over
3. Single steer or heifer, no more than 2 permanent teeth, 375-460kg
4. Pen of three steers or heifers, no more than 2 permanent teeth, 375-460kg
5. Single vealer or yearling, liveweight 305-370kg
6. Pen of three vealers or yearlings, liveweight 305-370kg
7. Single vealer or yearling, liveweight up to 300kg
8. Pen of three vealers or yearlings, liveweight up to 300kg

2. Pen of three prime lambs, unshorn, 40-50kg individual live weight

6. Single lamb, shorn or unshorn, 40-50kg liveweight
