Choir to sing it up at Apple and Grape…

The Apple & Grape Harvest Festival is upon us again, with all the excitement and the hustle and bustle. If you would like a little respite from all that, why not come along and enjoy an hour or so of beautiful, relaxing music, presented by the Granite Belt Choir and friends on the second weekend of the festival – Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 March.

The Musical Quiet Hour has been a feature of the Apple & Grape Festival for over 20 years now and is always very popular.

This year’s programme is music by composers whose names begin with “B”, and is titled The Beauty of ‘B’-ing. The theme was largely driven by 2020 being the 250th anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven. With this kernel of an idea the organisers started exploring other composers whose names begin with “B” and found an enormous depth of music from which to make the recital selection.

There will be something for all tastes with pieces from Bach to Byrd, including The Beatles and Bernstein. Performers include The Granite Belt Choir, The Granite Belt Junior Choir and The Occasional Players. The Musical Quiet Hour is always billed as “an oasis of quiet amid the hype of the festival” so whether you are delighted by the prospect of the programme or simply require some quiet reflection for body and soul, this is the perfect solution.

Be beguiled by beautiful ballads and bagatelles by Bach, Beethoven, Berlioz, Byrd, Bennet, Bernstein, The Beatles, Barnby, Binge, Backer, Bizet and more! There will be two performances, both at St Paul’s Anglican Church at Cnr High & Corundum Streets. The first is at 4pm on Saturday March 7 and the second is at 11.30am on Sunday March 8. Entry is by donation.
